Is it possible to set a task which is not linked to other tasks to run the length of the project. If the project length changes so will the time allowed to complete the task will alter. A useful thing to be able to do but I can't see how to do it. The task could be linked to the last task in the critical path if that helps.

Many thinks for any help

1. Create a Fixed Units task ("T-All") and outdent as far to the left as possible.

2. Click on the Start date field of the earliest starting task. Press Ctrl+C

3. Click on the Start date of "T-All"; click on Edit | Paste Special ...; click on the Paste Link radio button; click on OK.

4. Click on the Finish date field of the latest finishing task. Press Ctrl+C

5. Click on the Finish date of "T-All"; click on Edit | Paste Special ...; click on the Paste Link radio button; click on OK.

This should accomplish your goal.

Note that if the plan changes so that the task selected in step 4 is no longer the latest finishing task you will have to remember to update the link in the "T-All" task.
