Hi all,
Another prob...im really sorry to bother u all so much!!

The backup tape unloads on its own from the slot after some backup operations..And this behavior is somewhat weird because the drive unloads the tape sometimes on its own and sometimes not!!
I don't want the tape to be unloaded until I give it a command to unload it..
Any help is really appreciated!

Thanks a bunch,
-Jyoti

The behaviour of a dismount after a successful backup is absolutely correct because mount/dismount operations are handled by the media manager service which is part of the NetBackup design. So you have to interact with the media manager processes if you want to access the tape drive.

But have a look on the following technote at the Veritas support site:

I think that note describes exactly the problem, the pros and cons (and the solution!).

HTH.

The 'ltid' process will eject tapes after use unless there is an empty file called NO_STANDALONE_UNLOAD found in the following location:

<install_path>\Volmgr

example:
c:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\NO_STANDALONE_UNLOAD

You may or may not have to stop and restart the services after creating this empty file. I don't recall if the filename is case-sensitive but it is on our system.
