Using NetBackup 4.5GA with Exabyte EZ-17 LVD drive.

I can't really tell what happened last night. It looks like it loaded the catalog tape and there was a problem (on a side note since running a manual full back up last week NetBackup has been backing up the Catalog tape before and after the scheduled times for backup).

The problem now is the drive is down with the Catalog tape loaded and will not come back up. I've tried right clicking and upping the drive. I've reset the drive using the controls on the front. I've turned off the drive all together and turned it back on after waiting several minutes. Each time I remove the loaded tape from the drive manually. Each time when it comes back up it loads the catalog tape and goes down. If I leave the tapes out everything is fine, but when I put in the tapes it loads up the catalog tape and goes down.

Can anyone help? Thanks

Somethings up with that tape. Take a look at the bptm log on that server, it might have some clues. Also, take a closer look at the tape and inspect for damage.

Can you backup fine to other tapes?

replace the tape, they do go bad sometimes and the DB tape gets a lot of use.
