Tape dissapear ? Why ?

I have an IBM eServer type 8671-4AX.
It is installed W2k SBS.
When i restart tape drive is not visible.
I folow the driver instalation procedure descripted in manual.
What is the problem ?

What tape drive you are using? Is it intenal or external? How is it attached to the server? onboard scsi? Raid card? Not visible where? OS? backup software? Has it ever worked?
