Tablet PC and External Monitor/Projector

Has anybody had any problems projecting an image to a projector.
My problem is that when I connect an second monitor or projector I get two desktops (extended desktop), I can't make it so the second monitor is the primary or just mirror the displays.
It will work as an extended dektop fine, but with the tablet you can't use the extra desktop with out and extra mouse, kind of useless.
I think this might just be a Windows XP (tablet or not) dual view issue.

Any ideas?
