table doesn't show up in append query table list

I have a problem I have never run into before. When I try to create an append query and when I have the dropdown list to select the table to append the list is missing tables. The table I was trying to append to was created by a make table query. All tables are in the same database. I have not set any special security to any part of the database. Can someone give me an idea on how to correct this problem? Thanks for all help in advance.

BTW: This just started. I had no problems doing this 2 days ago.

Have you done a Compact & Repair?
Did you recently add an autonumber field to any of the missing tables?
