Can i perform keyboard input into a variable?

What is the client software? Do you refer to SQL itself, Query Analyzer, Access, C++, ...?

The SQL language doesn't provide a user interface for accepting user input. You could create a program in VB, C++ or even a DTS package that would ask for user input via the keyboard and use the input to query SQL Server. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA
