Jun 23 15:03:38.093 XXXXXXXXXX cifsd[896]: 457 domainname Error: This system's name (XXXXXXXXX) is not fully qualified. This will cause significant problems in operation. Check that the fully qualified host name is set as the first name for the local system in the hosts file.

I keep getting the above message from my Symantec, ver 7.0.4/Windows 2000, firewall. I have looked at both the hosts and hosts.pub file and have made numerous changes to try to fix this problem.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks for your help.

Try the following KB from Symantec, it has more to do with DNSD, but in the past it has helped with this error message for other proxies like HTTPD and FTPD.
