Running W2K Pro, SP2. Whenever a user logs on, regardless of who it is, the System32 folder opens up. Nothing in Startup folder causing problem. Happened right after installing Adaptec DirectCD, MyBackup, Easy CD, and HP scan software. Have uninstalled all of the items listed, but still opens folder. Have seen this on 2 other occasions, but no resolution.

Please help.

Thanks!

all users opening admin share?

log on as administrator, and close all windows that open.
make sure nothing's in startup for all users, and default user..Then shutdown..

This is the same as another post in this forum... the answer was given by Qwaysar... see below...

use regedit and goto:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If you have any values that have their value data as nothing (null or blank) then
when windows starts up it will open a window to c:\winnt\system32
Perhaps you can just delete these values
