I have several systems with DFI motherboard that are suppose to take up to 512 RAM. Awards BIOS v4.51PB ahc VIA 82C597 chipset running XP

I had a PC 133 256 stick in the system ... worked fine. I replace it with a PC 133 512 stick... now it only recognizes 128 MB RAM.

I took this out and put 2 sticks of the 256 and it reads it as 512 MB RAM. What gives... this is really strange.

Have you checked the specs for your chipset? Are you sure it supports DIMMS greater than 256MB?

A lot of chipsets that were made when the PIII and Athlons hit 800MHz didn't support DIMMS over 256MB.
