Good day All!
I have a bit of an issue I've got a CS1000M 4.5 running on CP PII, the issue I'm having is that when ever I insert the master system monitor to core 0, and enable tty 0 as soon as I strike the key enter. the column goes down, the 5 power switches on the back of the pedestal trip and I have to manually turn them back on. I have checked the dip switch settings and have tried this with several other spare parts and nothing.
has anyone encounter this.... any info is appreciated.

I have seen that problem occur when I seated the system monitor but not upon enabling it. What spare parts have you used? I'm assuming you tried multiple system monitors. Have you replaced your paddle board that supplies TTY 0? A couple of things to look for:

1) Once it is seated and before you enable it, look at the ringing generators in the column (if you have any) and see if any of their lights are out. If so, turn them off and pull them out of the cage. If they are green, skip this step.
2) Take a flashlight and follow your ribbon cables from the pedestal all the way up to the top cap. Make sure they are all connected firmly.
3) Verify the dip switches on the paddle board that supply TTY 0. The dip switches should be set to 1200 baud/DTE. Also verify the prompt XSM in the TTY programming says YES.

great tips, telebub! also, check for any bent pins!

has this worked in the past.. 1st thing i think of is device numbers that match within a group.. that assigns an interupt twice and kills the switch..

another problem i've seen is the paddle board itself.. when you reseat one, the lamps come on prior to the card being fully seated.. you have to really press to feel the card fully seat..
