OK, where did it go? I lost my "System Info". I can't access it from Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. Click on it - hourglass comes up for a second, and nothing. I've tried run, msinfo32.exe, Microsoft shared - msinfo32, still nothing. I ran sfc/scannow, no problems. XP SP-2. Last image was 2 weeks ago, don't want to go back that far (don't know when I lost sysinfo anyway). Any ideas?

Try
Start->run-> winmsd

if it does not start , then i suggest to reinstall your office.

Maybe it will fix the problem

Good Luck

Neither one did anything (same response as before).

Is the Help and Support service started and set to Automatic?

Does it MsInfo32 work from Safe Mode?

Perhaps it is time to run a Registry Cleaner?

System info gone

Help and Support Center may stop responding in Windows XP or in Windows Server 2003

You Cannot Open Certain System Information (.nfo) Files

not to be too basic but do you have the system files/programs hidden or are you logged on an account that does not have admin right?

Found it! I was doing something else, and had to access "Help and Support". It didn't work either. ARRRGGGHHHHH. Think - think! I have a program that restores "Help" after using an "overzealous" registry cleaners (fixwinhelp.vbs). Used it to repair "Help", and SysInfo works again also.

Does Help and Support work?

My guess is that this entire service is having issues.

Rebuilding Help and Support
Courtesy Kelly Theriot & Steven Liu Microsoft

1. Have no other program running.

2. Remove the .cab files from the Packagestore folder, and then rebuild the original Help and Support Center:

a. Click Start, click Run, type "cmd" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK to open a command prompt. Type "net stop helpsvc" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

b. Type "cd /d windir\pchealth\helpctr" (without the quotation marks), where windir is the Windows folder, and then press ENTER.

c. Type "rd packagestore /s /q" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

d. Type "cd binaries" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

e. Type "start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

f. If any of the following processes are running, stop them:

helpsvc.exe
helphost.exe
helpctr.exe

To stop a process, right-click the taskbar, and then click Task Manager. Click the Processes tab, click the process you want to stop, and then click End Process.

g. At the command prompt, type "net start helpsvc" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

Thanks, Bill. I'd already fixed it before I read your post. As usual, in the end, you were right. Fortunately, I had a quicker repair!
