Each month as part of monthly backup I run XP System Information to look for differences vs last month (yes, I am paranoid). This month generating the NFO file took quite a long time. Come to find out the Software Environment/Program Groups now lists every directory under 'Documents and Settings'. I compared that to last months saved NFO file which just listed actual Program Groups for all users.

I scan religiously for virsus/adware/spyware and I think I am clean. All latest and greatest(?) Microsoft patches are in. I did load Norton NAV 2006, ImageMagik, and November Microsoft updates since last backup.

Any help or clues would be much appreciated. I am a weird sort that would like an explaination for everything I encounter, even if I can't do anything about it... thanks...

You may have to contact Microsoft to see if they have amended the tool?

Program Groups.

Lists programs that are in the Start menu group for every user that has a profile on the computer. Lists the group name, the name of the program itself, and the profile to which the program group belongs.
