My system (Windows 98SE) hangs after closing Internet Explorer 6. It started to do this after I installed the latest 2 updates. I have IE set to delete temporary internet files on exit. It seems to behave properly if I manually delete the temporary internet files via "Tool" - "Internet option" before closing. I have 50MB reserved for temporary internet files.

So if you uncheck the option in advanced tab, does the problem go away?

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

I ran CWShredder as suggested by someone on Computing.net and it reported removing 3 items. That seemed to bring my system back to normal again. Can't figure how I got infected. My use of the web is limited to yahoo for email and groups, this site, computing.net and google. I suppose you just don't know what evil links google might get you to.
I have AdAware, Spybot and SpywareBlaster on my system.

I didn't get CW, but the other day, I had my cursor on the wrong place on a web page when I clicked it. I hit stop befor the page (whatever it was) opened. When I logged of the net, I ran AdAware and found three new spyware! I have the same protection you do, plus SpyWareGuard and still got them.
