My Sco Unix 5.04 system console froze. All the remote users were still connected ok. I performed a reboot in an attempt to sort the problem but now the system freezes at the point where you press 'Ctrl-D' for normal start up. Does anybody have any idea of cause and solution?

many thanks,
brand.

yup. replace it. (or plug it back in)

I've had this happen to me a few times... a drawback of having long legs and poorly routed cables.

Soz, I'd already tried the keyboard. However found a solution on the Caldera website. It appears this is a sympton of a corrupt ioctl.syscon file. It has to be removed and then the system restarted. This solved my problem. It was probably caused by changing the run level on a remote logon when no-one was logged in on the primary console screen.
