Should this program (sfc.exe) be run as a part of regular PC OS maintenance? Is it always safe for the operation of installed programs to replace altered or corrupted system files with sfc? Or can some programs not operate properly after this operation and it should be used more cautiously?

I run a Win2K network and a win98SE machine as well.

Appreciate yr. input as always...

always run it with caution, many apps and updates make changes with files, when running sfc you get the options to
update verification
restore
ignore
if found corrupt you restore, if changed look at dates and file version to see if you would update so that sfc doesnt look at it the next time
