System Date won't stay on Eastern Time

I have a Win2K Professional system that was purchased from a company in the Central Time zone. Whenever I change the time to Eastern, it stays for a week or two, then reverts back to Central time. The settings appear to be permanent at first as the changes stick through several on/off cycles. This has happend several times. This is annoying because an employee time clock is tied to it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
