i went to my system console screen and attempted to unload a module...now the console screen is locked...it never returned an unloaded message and i'm unable to type anything....all the other services are still functioning, no abend, but now i've lost the console screen...is there a way to still gracefully down the server? or free the system console screen

Try control+alt+escape and see if you get a menu to return to command console. Not sure if that will help you but it sometimes lets me back to some kind of prompt. Hope it helps.

never mind...i did it to the wrong server...problem still there

open internet explorer and type
login and you can restart server through this

if this doesnt work then your at the debugger stage
shift-shift-alt-esc

this isnt very graceful

Hi,

Download Fconsole.exe from Novell's support site. You launch it from a workstation and will allow you to down the server from your workstation. I have used Fconsole on NW 3.x, 4.x and 5.x. Not sure if it works with 6.

The debugger method (shift + Shift + Alt + Esc) is harsh (almost as bad as powering off) and should be used as the last resort.
