I am very new to using sysprep with ghost 7.51. I have read thousands of manuals and internet sites that explain how to use sysprep for a master image. I have followed these instructions perfectly and have finally made my master image. The only problem after the destination PC is loaded with the image, it will not boot. It just goes into a "reboot loop". Any suggestions?

Does the destination PC have same (or very similar - particularly motherboard) hardware setup as the machine you created the image on?

Yes, it is similar. I am pretty sure the chipset is different though.

The machine that the image is created needs to be pretty similare to the destination machine.

The HAL can present problems with booting if not.

Thank you for yor responses. Let me explain this a little better. I want a few master images for several hardware setups. What I read from Microsoft, this can be done by using sysprep witht the -factory switch. This is driving me nutz!!

We have several master images our selves and use sysprep, but as long as the hardware is the same wenever have probs.

Are you using the stations in a domain environment?

If so cloan the PC then rejoin it to the domain and rename it, this generated a new SID that incorporates the domain SID.

Alternativly try cloaning the machine before you sysprep it then ghost it to another machine then sysprep it.
