syntax to UPDATE external tables via linked servers

i'm looking for help with UPDATING/INSERTING INTO external foxpro tables via linked servers using an ODBC connection... to query the tables, i use OPENQUERY function successfully to access the data. just not having any luck making updates to the data using OPENDATASOURCE, OPENROWSET, or OPENQUERY functions, or referring to the linked server directly. what would the correct syntax be?? is it possible my connection does not allow for updating???

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, mitch.
