Syntax SV266A motherboard

I have tried flashing the bios in DOS with latest download from the syntaxusa website as well as using the Syntax utility in Windows, but in both cases there is a dialogue box that says the Flash Rom is write protected.

I have looked at the bios menus e.g. Advanced Bios Setup and there seems no mention of anything specific in the manual to remove the write protect on the Flash Rom.

If anyone has succeeded with this operation, I would love to know the solution.

look on the system board for a jumper to disable write protect of the bios...

I hear what you are saying, and there seems only one possible jumper setting relevant and this is for clearing/resetting the CMOS. In desperation I tried this, and tried all options, but to no avail... so as you see I am a desperado still looking for an answer.

In BIOS: Advanced Chipset Setup > Bios Flash Protect > Disable

Hi micker377

Bios Flash Protect is already disabled and I have read and re-read the manual and examined the motherboard to see if there are any other jumper setting posibilities that may have been accidentally left out of the manual and have failed to find any.

I have emailed technical support at Syntax and hope they have a solution.

Thanks to everyone who answered my distress call. I will post another message here if Syntax gives me anything useful.
