I recently brought a new Exchange 2000 Server online. I spent a few days manually moving the mailboxes from our old Exchange 2000 Server to this new box. After I had all the mailboxes moved, I shut down the old server.

Everything is working fine except for the select users who rely on folder synchronization. A message box will pop up periodically stating that a connection to the old server could not be established. Doing a send/receive will also result in a time out as Outlook searches for the old server.

Have I missed a setting somewhere? I've attempted deleting and recreating the .ost files, but I believe this is a connection issue, not file corruption. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Dave

are they remote users?
are the folders that they have trouble with shared on say, a secretary or receptionists Outlook, or were they on the server?
Why did you decommission the old server?

No, they are all users on the LAN.

The folders they are trying to Synch are subfolders of their Inbox and are all stored on the Server. Considering I moved each users mailbox to the new Server, this seems very odd to me. There are NO mailboxes or shared public folders on the old Server, yet during a Synch attempt, the old Server is what is being searched for.

I decommisioned the old Server because the hardware was getting a little stale and mail performance was suffering.

Try checking the deleted items folder and see if there is a synchronization log. If so, what errors are reported?
