synch email when using OWA

The user has setup a .pst on his laptop, sometimes when he is travelling he finds it easier to just use OWA, be it his laptop or available workstation. But when he logs back on to the VPN to access his native Outlook the messages he sent and or read are not synchronized with his .pst
What does he need to do?
