Sync Problem O2k

I have a user running Win2k (sp2) and Outlook2k (sr1)pointing at an NT4 server (sp6a) running Exch 5.5 (sp3). He has developed problems with syncronising his mailbox to off-line folders. I've checking the setup and it's fine. I've trying renaming the existing .ost and setting it up again but it only sync's approx a sixth of his mailbox before finishing with an error and putting the sync log in deleted items. The problems occur with Inbox, Sent Items and Calendar but all other folders are OK. Mailbox is approx 350MB with the majority in Inbox spread out in sub-folders.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to have to trash his mailbox if I can help it.
