i have an episode of anime i received on CD in .avi form and the syncing is off. this is because JUST the animation skips in the beginning theme song. therefore, it sets off the whole rest of the episode. how do i separate editing the audio and video and how do i just like CUT the video and move it back (i dont care if the animation in the intro gets damaged, i just want the actual EPISODE synced).

PLEASE HELP! i have been messing with this for several hours and i cant figure out how to do it.

thank you in advance to anyone/everyone who helps!

If you ALT-drag the audio or video on the timeline, you can move them differentially.

Or you can right click the clip on the timeline and select 'unlink audio and video' to give fully independent control of the separate elements.

thank you!! but also, i dont know how to cut the video and move it back. im usually pretty good at figuring this kind of stuff out but damnit im getting so stumped with this program.

The easiest way is probably to razor the clip at about the point where it went wrong using the Razor Tool (C=shortcut).

That will give you two clips.

You can then unlink the first clip and delete the audio portion to clear the track.

Then use the Selection Tool (V=shortcut) plus ALT to move the audio back into sync on the post-skip section. Because this is still linked, you can use the autosync facility to return to the start point if you get it wrong.

After that you can drag with the Selection Tool + ALT to extend the start of the audio back to its original start frame.

That will leave you a section of unlinked video above the extended audio at the start of the timeline which you can fiddle with to work around the sync problem.
