I have a server that I am trying to get into the correct group but it is stuck in a group that I forgot the password for. So I tried to run iforgot.exe utitility and when i put admin in for the username and a new password it tells me that the admin user does not exist.

Any suggestions?

What Windows or server are you running?

Let me also state the history of this issue.

I have inherited a network which has Symantec running, it was my understanding I was going to create a new network and move one domain to the existing however that never happened.

On the new domain I install the Symantec AV - and thought I documented the login and password. I can not located it.

On the SSC console beneath the system hierarchy is two groups. The original SAV Group (which I have the password for) and the new group - which is on another domain (I can not get into) both systems running off Win 2003 servers.

I tried running the iforgot util and clearing cach and running discover but still no success getting into the other SAV group. When I try to reset the password the error states specified user account does not exist.

I think your question might be better suited for this forum. As the info your asking is out of my range. Some others on here might have an answer. Id reccomend posting the question on the forum I have listed below. You would probably get better results.

Thanks!

I have a feeling I'll have to unintall Symantec on the new domain and reinstall it

But I'll try the forum you recommended first - thanks again!

No, just navigate into the Symantec program files folder under tools (I Think) and find IForgot.exe. This is Symantec's way to reset the admin password. Or you can just search the system for it.
