SX200 ICP connected to an external paging unit. I programmed a Direct Page key on all IP phones so users can access the overhead paging system. When users want to page, they push the Direct Page key programmed on their 5330e followed by the extension of the paging system, 2200. It works great, but, my customer is now saying they want to access the overhead paging system via one key. I've been playing in my lab trying to figure out how to make this work for the customer.

The first thing I thought of was programming a speed dial key with the strings being that of the FACs followed by the ext for paging 2200 on a 5330e in my lab. The phone didn't like characters * or # in the strings and rejected it.

I then thought, I could program an abbreviated speed dial with the strings in it but that won't work since the customer wants only 1 button to push.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this may be possible?

Thanks

There is a COS option that enables Group Page and Loudspeaker Page together.

Then you can program a Loudspeaker Page key that works like a push to talk button.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

But not only Loudspeaker Page? I'm asking because I know the client will ask me. Thanks

Based on your description you are not using loudspeaker paging.

You are probably using a Paging Module that requires the use of direct paging. (Group Page)

I was thinking loudspeaker paging was associated with the overhead speakers in an external paging system. When you refer to loudspeakers paging, are you referring to the speakers on IP phones?
Anyway, yes, my thread is geared to external paging paging equipment with a 5485 IP Paging Unit.

jpruder, I'll give that a shot.

Thanks

jpruder, your instructions work.
My original idea (program a speed dial key on IP phones with the dial string **482200) is ready to be tested.
