Hey, I'm using iPocket 232s for interfaces between my SX200 AX ICP, embedded voice mail and an Opera PMS. There are no communication problems between the embedded voice mail and Opera. Howver, communication between the 3300 and Opera drops sporadically. Opera is pointing the finger at the iPocket configured for the PBX. I disagreed and pointed out that I had used the PMS Emulator to sucessfully test communication between both iPockets and the SX200 onsite (A remote laptop and PBX are on a flat network. Laptop connected to PBX iPocket via serial connection. IPocket connected to switch via Ethernet connection. PBX connected to switch via Ethernet connection). I was able to see communciation ENQ and ACK between PBX and PMS. I then used the emulator to successfully check in/out rooms; change names of rooms etc... My iPocket is programmed as follows:

Ethernet: 10.1.1.43
Serial Port Telnet
Protocol: Telnet (cln)
Port Setting: 9600 bps 8N1 [no]
Connection Control: Net-Linked
Terminal Type: vt100

Local Port: 0
Remote IP: 10.1.1.3
Remote Port: 61320
Fallback IP: 0.0.0.0
Fallback Port: 0
Fallback Drop Time: 0

One more fact. The voice mail interface has never dropped according to Opera. So, I decided to swap programming between the voice mail and PBX ipocket. The problem persisted on the PBX ipocket. Voice mail link remained up.

Suggestions and opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

You have proven that the interface works

Before going to site again, inform the customer that they will be billed for all further troubleshooting done on Opera's behalf.

If they accept those terms, document everything and provide the customer a report.

Don't forget to bill for everything.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

What you recommend will definitely happen kwbMitel. Being a newbie to Mitel and having previously installed a couple of SX200s, I sometimes feel inconfident about my programming and therefore create a thread in an effort to reinforce what I know or...what I think I know. Haha! I knew that the iPockets are working fine. It seems as though we(phone installers/techs/admins) have to bare the burden of proof even if we've proven our side is programmed and functioning correctly.

I've been doing this long enough that I actually bill for the first call.

If I go to site and do not find an issue with the PBX, the customer gets a bill.

The PMS vendors DO NOT deserve free troubleshooting.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more kwbMitel.

Thanks
