We are switching are LD carrier next month and the do not support NI2 Protocols on the D Channels. We have already went over the list with them and we have chosen DMS250 for the new protocol. On the switch when I reprogram the D Channel to reflect the new setting will I have to reprogram just the D Channel or the whole T-1, route and everything associated with them. Let me know. Thanks.

Would out and rebuild everything. Less chance of missing something.

another point, after you make any change on the d, you need to dis msdl x all in 96 and enl msdl x fdl to download that data to the card. and mluckie is right, it only takes a few minutes to out 23 in 14 out the route and d, then put them back in. dms 250 interafce is not a problem, might need to get their rls for that prompt, it will save a few 100 pri227 errors

Thanks guys, my thought process was with mluckie1 but I just wanted to have some reassurance.

usually if i have the cards and/or real estate i build the new pri's on new loops, get those up and tested and then have the old taken out. doesn't work all the time due to the $$ thing but it does make for a very clean cut. you tend to look real bad when you can't get the new one up, and the old one is gone, and 99 times out of 100, the trouble is not in your switch.. depending on the carrier, most switchman on the far end will work with you, i used to email the required switch config to field techs when they needed it. others i've worked with in the co, can see the problem and only tell the far end that it's not my problem. just a heads up. if you start a post asking for a dms 250 config, someone here has one they can share. unless you have one to look at or just don't need it... good luck on your carrier change, my last few were perfect, others have not been worth bragging about

I have been through some messy cutovers before so I know what you are talking about. One problem I have is I don't have the assessts to build new ones. I have to wait untill the cutover night do out and rebuild. Hopefully it will go just fine. I have been emailing back and fourth with our new LD Carrier and the Network Transformation team for the company. This is a company wide process that is going on and it is involving about 150 to 200 sites across the US alone. What fun it is going to be.

I just found out that they want to have this set up as two PRI's with a primary and a backup d-channel. Can this be done?

yes that is very typical, the backup d goes in as a bdch,
ld 17
chg
adan
new bdch x

only about 6 prompts, very to the point
