I need to purchase a new Switch for my company. It needs to be a 24 port Gig and managed. It seems that the price of the switch depends a lot on the Switching Capacity. How much Switching Capacity do I need for a 80 user network?

I'm not completely clear of your question.

Are you looking for a 24 port switch that can be stacked to support 80 users or are you looking for a single switch that will handle the capacity of 80 users?

What do you need the users to connect at. If they all are connecting at 100 meg full and using every bit of it all the time then 80 ports at 100 in both directions plus uplink ports would put you in the 3750 range. 24 10/100/1000 ports with significant switching capacity. most switches these days as far as forwarding throughput on the same lan are overkill. 10 million packets per second is average on most switches and that will rock on an 80 user network. stacking several 2950T will work as well and only set you back around 4-5 k. 4 switches x 1200 + smartnet

Im not sure whether I need a Standalone or Stacked switch. I honestly do not know the difference. I have seen a switch that I am interested in, it's a D-Link 24 port managed Layer 2 Switch. (DGS-3224TGR) It has a 48Gbps Switching Capacity and runs for just under $2000.00. I failed to mention in my original post that I currently have a Dell 10/100 on my network that conatains 24 ports and I will continue to use it. All workstations have Gig Nic cards, I hope that answers your question LUI3.
Our network plans to grow to 80 users in the next 2 years at which time I will purchase another switch. Currently I have around 40 users.
I apologize for the confusion of my first post. I appreciate the response and expertise that both of you have offered.
