I have an Access database that we have been using for quite some time with no problems. The other day in the middle of the day we started having the following problem. When you click on the desktop icon to open the database it starts out as usual. Access starts up and the switchboard box appears in the middle of the screen but it stops when the first button appears for you to click on. The disctiption for that button does not appear and neither does any of the other buttons. If I go to the database window I can open some of the very simple forms (like employee which works off a single table) but the main orders form will not work. I did find that I can copy a copy of the orders form from a old backup copy and call it orders1 and it works fine (all querys appear to be working fine). Any ideas would be appreciated. I am not a programer, just a small business owner who has learned computers out of necessity over the years. Thanks.

It sounds as if one or more forms might have gotten corrupted. Try IMPORTING all the objects from the BAD database to a NEW database, and see if the process bombs anywhere. That will be your bad form/query/table/report object..it's hard to diagnose EXACTLY what is wrong, but it just sounds like your s/board got hosed somewhere along the line...

Another argument for frequent backups, eh?
