hi
Please can someone help me out on a switching issue.
I have a 4006 with a layer 3 switching card with 34 ethernet interfaces
I also have 15 3548 switches - what I would like to do is plug all of the switches into 15 of the ethernet interfaces using standard straight through cable (doesnt have to be a channel).
The problem is - i only seem to get a proper connection when I use a crossover cable - but I only have 1 crossover - and lots of straight through cable.
Can someone please suggest how I can connect all of these devices together ? I tried configuring an etherchannel - but with no success.
There are no end user devices such as PCs involved in this - I would simply like all the switches to be able to ping each other via the 'core' 4006. All switches will be on the same flat layer 3 networks (all IP addresses in same /24 Ip range)

Thanks

You MUST use a crossover cable. There is no other way.

thanks inikis - I had a feeling that was the case...:(
I didnt know I needed 4 crossovers for an etherchannel between 2 switches - that does surprise me.

Well...it's true that you need to cross over. I sometimes use a little rollover pigtail plugged on to the end of a straight-through cable. That way you don't have to re-pull or re-terminate cable. Admittedly, I usually only do that for very temporary situations or testing. But it's an option.
