Switch new Ex 5.5 box from NT to W2k 1

First time switching a Exchange box. I have exchange 5.5 on a nt4 pdc and I want to change to new box running win2k. I want to keep the old server. It's serveing as a printserver and DHCP and a few other things.
I have transfered all the mailboxes over and the Public folders. There's is where I'm a little hesitate with shutting down the old server. On my IMS on the new server, it's has the name of the old server and I have not copied and of the databases over. I have gone through all the treads and it just dosen't seem clear or maybe I'm missing something. HELP!!!!!
