Switch from IBM to HP laptops a good move? Your opinions please?

My company is looking at making a very large purchase of laptops very soon. As of now we use exclusively IBM laptops, but are open to other possibilities. Actually, I need to make my decision by the ned of the day here and it's down to HP or not.

So waht do you all think? Have you had a good history with HP or not?

Have you tried checking for product reviews online? I would check places such as

http://www.cnet.com

for product reviews, and also

http://www.tomshardware.com

.

Or, what I often do for various electronics, computer parts, software, etc is to find a specific model #, and search that model # in

http://www.google.com

, then select "Search within results" at bottom of page, and type in "review" in the next search block. That is a pretty quick way to narrow down results to nearly 100% just reviews for any given product.

One other site that may have some good info could be

http://www.computershopper.com

- they have bunches of ads and stuff, but also rate various products such as full desktops, laptops, etc. I would imagine that just about any modern pc would do okay... just keep in mind whether or not you want a good service contract, warranties, etc. In my book, I'd just go with Dell, unless there was some specific reason not to.
