New Norstar CICS: I've noticed that if you set a CO line on a DN as "appear only", and that same line also comes to that DN after 4 rings on a hunt group from a "Forward N/A", it still won't ring even if the hunt group is set to "appr&ring". Is there any glitch like this with SWCA? The manuals don't seem to get that specific, and I no longer have the system set up at my shop for testing and don't want to fool around with it on site too much. My client has an 86 year old receptionist, and they'd like it to ring *only* her phone 4x before ringing everyone else. But they want everyone else to be able to pick up before the timeout if they know she's not going to get it, so I thought of SWCA. I thought SWCA would be useful for another reason, which is that they think she'll get confused with reading and remembering Call Park codes (she can't see very well). With SWCA you have a button with an indicator, so it's a bit simpler. Sometimes a call comes in for the boss, and she uses transfer, talks to the boss first, finds out she doesn't want to take the call right then, and then sends the call through to her anyway by mistake. Or if she puts the call on local hold, the boss can't pick it up from wherever she happens to be. SWCA might work better. She can just say "Governor Palin, you have Joe Sixpack on 1". If she's nearby, she can step into the conference room and pick up. Or the receptionist can put out a page if she can't find her.

So, will my hunt group still ring after the Forward DN if there is an SWCA button on the set? Any other problems I might run into, or other suggestions?

Thanks a lot for the help! (I'm getting a crash course with this installation)

Appearances and Hunt Groups are a guaranteed problem. SWCA keys aren't, because they don't come into play until the call is parked. Your idea has legs.

Thanks for the reply! But I just thought of another question about the SWCA: if the receptionist is away and someone in a nearby office hears a call ringing at 221, will it allow her to grab the call before waiting for the Forward NA to the hunt group, and before the receptionist parks it? Their SWCA1 button won't let them grab the call until 221 parks it, right? Or will it appear on everyone's SWCA1 button while initially ringing if the settings are done right? If not, should I put everyone in a pickup group along with 221, and give them each a group pickup button? Sorry if these are basic questions.

Your correct on both your posts. You'll need a P/U group to answer the ringing incoming call. Then anyone can Park it on the SWCA key. Now, it's like a hard-coded trunk that can be accessed by anyone with an SWCA key or the Park code.
