It's been a while since I've dealt with this stuff and I'm a little rusty.

I have a PDC and BDC on a 10.10 network.

My PDC is dying.

I have a stand alone PDC I want to swap into it's place, but want to keep it on a different network (10.11.)

Can I do this? (No probs with pinging back and forther from one network to another).

Can someone point me to a FAQ that allows me to import all users/info from my BDC to my new PDC?

Thanks,

You need to be more specific about your network/domain.

Also please understand that there is no such thing as a PDC in a Win2K domain. All Domain Controllers are peers. The first DC installed will hold the FSMO roles which can be moved to any other DC.

If you already have a second DC as part of the same domain then all of your user accounts are already there provided replication is working.

Otherwise you need to run DCPROMO on a new server to make it a DC in the current domain and wait 15 minutes for it to transfer AD. After that you will need to transfer the FSMO roles and any other core services you have running like DHCP or WINS.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
