Hi we have a 2620XM Router with a supposedly bad csu-dsu card, and management has asked me to swap it out with a known good csu module.

Since I've never done this before, is it really as easy as turning off the system, pulling out the old card, installing the new card and bringing the system back up?
Any tips or suggestions?

Thank you.

as long it is a exact replacement it is that easy . Do write memory before shutting off the router.

write memory is just a "copy run start" ...

to make sure you have saved your config before you power the router down.

Pretend I've never done this before...oh right, because I have not.
Can you walk me through this copy run start process?

Thank you.

ok here we go:

log into router
if the prompt looks like this:
router>
then you need to go into enable mode
type: enable <enter>
input the password
now prompt should be:
router#

now here is the tricky part :P

type: copy run start <enter>
Destination filename [startup-config]? <press enter>
Building configuration...
[OK]

all done config is saved.

Why do you need to shut down the router to replace the WIC? These things should be hot swappable

WIC's are not hot swappable. You won't damage them, but they are not hot swappable.

Depends what routers your playing with ;)

I wish someone would just call me Sir, without adding 'Your making a scene'.
