Greetings, Gentlemen! I have an NEC SV8100 that is networked with an Avaya IP Office via H323. It works, but not fully.

I can call from the NEC to all the Avaya phones. When I call from the IP Office to the NEC I get a busy signal if a name ( Bob Jones, eg. )other than the default extension name ( STA 19@@ ) I will get a busy signal. It will show the person's name and give me a busy signal. If the default name is in that field on basic extension set-up, the call rings to the NEC extension. Is there a fix for this problem?

Thank You,
Quaz

Sounds like it is the way the sip header is being constructed and the solution will be quite complex. You need a good dealer with access to TAC and probably the same equivalent on the Avaya side.

OzzieGeorge,

Thanks for the come back. It turns out the problem was on the IP Office side. The IP Office retained in its memory
user's names, their associated extension number and the ip address where the system resided. The ip address was changed on the SV8100 due to an office relocation. SO when i dialed an extension, the IP Office ignored its programming and tried to complete the call at the old ip address. The extensions on the SV8100 that had no name just STA XXX the calls would ring as they should. When I cleared the IP Office of unused IP Lines, all the calls to the SV8100 completed.
