SuSE, i know, has support for ISDN, through a program called i4l, which is ISDN for Linux...
about it being a mail to fax gateway, that would have to be in the application u choose to run that... most of that can be found in the application.... try sourcing on the net, there must be hundreds of apps on the web that can do this..
