summing on a report

i am tring to sum a field called prices i currently have =Sum([Price]) in a text box in the page footer and it gives me #error how can i get this to work. (does it need to go into the report footer)

Yes, Page Footers cannot be used for Calculations of Totals and other kinds of summations. You would need to place the calulated field in either the report footer or (if you have things grouped in the report) the appropriate group footer.
