I created several formulas basically in the format:if a certain condition exists assign it a zero else assign it a 1 . I then do a sum function on these formulas based on 2 groupings. In my first group when I ran my tests I should be getting values of zeros but they do not appear. The second group does have values and the sum of the counts are working and showing correctly.

Is there a reason why a zero sum would not show a number it is blank on the report.

thanks

Not positive here since I am self teaching myself Crystal, but if you are doing a sum on that group, technically, a sum of all zero is in fact zero. I believe that you would want to do a count on that group rather then a sum. That should count up all instances of when that "0" appears.

You certainly want to do a sum in this case, not a count.

The first thing I would look at is if the database field that your are looking is actually NULL. Null values in a field can cause a formula to return nothing. If this is the case, you will need to check for NULLs in your forumla, or set the option to to CONVERT NULL FIELD TO DEFAULT under Report, Options, Reporting tab.

I do know the data set does have null values. I will try this out.
