Hi all,

My query returned hundreds of records but only those that meet my criteria are being displayed in the report. I need to count the number of records being displayed. How can I do this?

Thank you in advance.

From the Insert menu, choose Summary.
In the Summary dialog, choose one of your fields, then choose Count, then click OK.
A Grand Total count will be placed in the Report Footer.

Why is it returning more records than you want to evaluate? Did you conditionally suppress certain records?

If you used group selection and no section suppression, you can insert a running total with no special evaluation formula. If you used section suppression, you would also need to use a running total, but you would have to add an evaluation formula that is the opposite of your suppression criteria. The running total would have to be placed in a footer section.

Thank you all.

LB: yes, I used group selection & no section suppression. It didn't work before because I was trying to evaluate the formula. It works fine now. Thanks.

Sorry if I've misunderstood

BUT

"My query returned hundreds of records but only those that meet my criteria are being displayed in the report"

Isn't that what everyone really wants, for output to be displayed which meets the criteria?

idd,

Yes, but you also want to return (ideally) only those records that will be displayed. Kendel indicated that many more records were being returned to the report than were actually displayed--which meant there were suppressed records or records that were being group-selected for display.
