is there a simply way to do and excel style sumif. i know about formulars to create values based on a 'if' critea and then summing them, but sumif would be much easier.

There is no SumIf in crystal. The 2 best solutions to this are an if-then formula, and then sum it as you suggested, or a running total field evauated by a formula.

To create a RT field, insert-field object-running total field, name the field to sum, evalaute based on formula, enter your formula and reset=never or reset=change of group, as the case may be. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
