I have a DLT-IV tape drive that's performing a full backup every Friday night. Right now it takes 4 hours to back up 20 gigs and our database is growing daily. I've taken as much out of the backup scope that I can so that it's only backing up what's absolutely necessary. I also have hardware compression turned on.
Should I continue on w/ the DLT-IV and make further modifications to the backup scope or should I go to another backup media? If I should change, can someone recommend a good alternative?
I do a diff backup each day w/ a full backup each Friday. I have four Friday backups that I swap out on a weekly basis (they are removed to an off-site location). So I'll need the ability to continue this methodology with any new backup media.
Thanking you in advance for any help.
