sudden VPN disfunction

I had a VPN connection ported through a cayman router with Pacbell DSL. Suddenly I am getting the following error message.

"TCP/IP reported error 733: your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocols."

I have checked the settings several times and cannot ascertain what may have changed in my settings. Any thoughts.
