Sudden Appearance of Boot Up Selections?

Win XP Home. Out of the blue when I now a restart, or do an intial cold Bootup, I get the following screen choices:
Press "R" For Standard System Recovery Options
Press "F" To Format Drive and Perform Full System Recovery
Press "Q" To Quite
My question is where did this suddenly come from and how do I stop it from coming up. When I Press "Q" to quit in contiues with the normal boot with no problems.

This is likely coming from a Compaq or HP system restore "feature" and indicates a problem with your XP installation.

Do an in-place upgrade of XP. Note: you will lose your hotfixes, but not installed programs or data:
