Hi

I'm using Crystal 8.5 and am having problems with subreports when linking them to third party software. I shall do my best to explain...

This is the first time I've tried to use Sub Reports so I get the feeling I'm missing something obvious.

In 'Details a' I have 'subreport a' which picks up any individual with a value greater than zero in the 'Asked' field and it looks like this

Code:
[b]Prospect Amount Asked Result DA[/b]
Mr Smith £100,000 Rejected Jane Doe

In 'Details b' I have 'subreport b' which picks up any individual who has the value zero in the 'Asked' field and displays a different set of fields

Code:
[b] Prospect Target Date to Ask DA[/b]
Mr Jones £25,000 - £50,000 30/03/2006 Jane Doe

When I preview the report in Crystal it works, but when I try and link it through the third party software it does not.

Have I missed a step in Crystal to allow the report to refresh?

Is there a different way I could write the report without using subreports?

I have successfully linked Crystal Reports through the third party software in the past, but this is the first time I have tried it using subreports. I have spoken to the company providing the other software and they are clueless so I thought I would try this forum instead!

Many thanks for reading such a long post.

I don't follow. I'd have thought a simple shared variable should do the linking and no extra software should be needed.

The third party software allows other people in my organisation to automatically refresh and re-run the report without them needing Crystal on their pc's.

Try asking in forums 2 or 3. It would help if you named the 3rd party software.

You can use an Excel spreadsheet as input for Crystal. Does that help?
