Subreports failing (Embedded data in Text) - a problem?

Afternoon,

Am using CR 8.0 with SQL 2000 and am trying subreports for the first time, with little success. I have two subs which Im using to avoid a data duplication issue. Issue - trying to link these 2 subs via CR's 'subreport link edit' fails, is it a problem that I've got the required sub data fields embedded in text fields? Any directional help would be a bonus.

hi do you have a main report?
you should link the main report field to the subreport field

Hi, Yep do have a main report, have tried the main report field link to the sub - do you only need one link or a link for all the data (fields) required in the sub???

You use as many links as necessary to get your subreport data...no more...no less

Point of interest, is there a known feature (!?) within CR v8.0 that affects subreports? If so patch/upgrade available.
