Here's our problem: We have a .rpt which includes one subreport. We want to produce a summary report, for which the subreport does some of the calculations. Our problem is that the subreport section in the main report is creating blank spaces in the report. The subreport is the only object in the section, which is a group footer in the main report. We are unable to suppress the subreport section because when we do the subreport doesn't calculate. The "Can Grow" option is on.
Many thanks in advance for any tips.

How about supressing the group footer if blank?
LindaC
lcastner@co.orange.ny.us

If you're refering to the "Suppress blank section" option in the Format Section dialog, we have that checked.

Thanks.

Make the section that the subreport is in very short, by shrinking the height of the subreport, then shrink the section height. The subreport will grow to the correct height when it has something to show, otherwise you will just get the minimum height.
Also check that the subreport itself doesn't have any things that are taking up space, like empty report headers, footers, etc.
Malcolm Wynden
wynden@island.dot.net

You could also go into the subreport itself and suppress each section, it will make it show on your report as "blank" but it will still pass your variables through to your main report. You can then make the section where you have your subreport as small as possible so that it doesnt really "show"...

see crystal kbase article c2007600 for using the shared variables and also kbase article c2005853 for shrinking blank subreports...
