Subreport Data mutually exclusive?

If I place a subreport of similar data in a report does the data become mutually exclusive by default? Example: I have All flights and an on demand subreport of those flights where a discount was given. I am only seeing two mutually exclusive sets of data. Can I include the data from the subreport in the main report and use the on demand subreport as a way to view just that subset?

It sounds like you have not linked the subreport to the main report. I think you will need to link them by flight#.
Right click the subreport on the main report and select "change subreport links".
On the left side of the window (container report field) select flight#, then click the ">" button. The flight# should appear on the right side (fields to link to).
Depending on your grouping, the subreport should go in a group below the flight# group (detail section, flight# footer, etc.).
